Creating Menu Item Options in Garson.Pro

Creating Menu Options in Garson.Pro

Welcome to Garson.Pro. In this video, you’ll learn how menu options work, how to create option groups, how to configure different option types, and how to manage option availability and visibility.

Menu options allow customers to customize menu items. Options are things like size selection, extra ingredients, add-ons, or cooking preferences. Options are organized into option groups, and option groups are assigned to menu items.

Let’s start by creating an option group.

Open the option groups list.
[Open Menu → Options]

Create a new option group.
[Click Create]

Enter a group name, for example Size, Extras, or Milk Type. This name is shown to customers.
[Type Size]

If your business supports multiple languages, you can edit all languages at once or generate translations.
[Click Language selector – ALL]
[Click Translate]

Now choose the group type.

Group type defines how customers select options.

Multiple choice allows customers to select multiple options using checkboxes. This is best for add-ons like Extra cheese or Extra sauce.
[Select Type → Multiple choice]

Single choice allows customers to select exactly one option from the group. This works best for choices like Size, Milk type, or Cooking level. [Select Type → Single choice]

Overrides base price is a special single-choice group where the selected option replaces the item’s base price. This is useful for cases like choosing a size where each size has its own final price.
[Select Type → Overrides base price]

For Single choice and Multiple choice groups, you can also control how many selections are allowed.

For Single choice you can optionally allow zero selections, or require exactly one selection. If Min is set to zero, the option is optional and can be skipped. If Min is set to one, the customer must choose an option before placing the order. [Set Selections → Min]

For Multiple choice you can set both minimum and maximum selections, for example minimum 0 and maximum 3.
[Set Selections → Min / Max]

You can also control group status.

Visible controls whether this option group is shown to customers.
Available keeps it visible but disables selection, which is useful when options are temporarily out of stock.
[Toggle Visible]
[Toggle Available]

Now save the option group.
[Click Create]

Next, let’s create options inside the group.

Open the option group and create a new option.
[Open group → Click Create option]

Enter the option name, for example Small. Option names are shown to customers.
[Type Small]

If your business supports multiple languages, translate the option name.
[Click Language selector – ALL]
[Click Translate]

Option description is optional, but it can help customers understand the choice. You can write it manually or generate it using AI.
[Click Generate]
[Click Translate]

Each option has a Code. This is required and can be used for POS integration, internal tracking, or barcode-based workflows.
[Enter Code]

Option duration is optional. Use it when an option affects preparation time, for example “Well done” or “Extra topping.”
[Set Duration]

Option price defines how this option affects the final price.

In normal groups, option price is typically an add-on amount.
In Overrides base price groups, option price becomes the final item price when selected.
If price is set to 0, the option will be shown as Included. [Set Price]

Currency is taken from your business profile and is shown here for reference.
[Review Currency]

Discount is optional and can be used for promotions on specific options.
[Set Discount]

Finally, set option status.

Visible controls whether the option is shown.
Available keeps it visible but disables selection.
[Toggle Visible]
[Toggle Available]

Save the option.
[Click Save]

Repeat to create all options you need, for example Small, Medium, and Large.
[Create more options]

Now assign this option group to a menu item.

Open a menu item.
[Open Menu → Items]

Open the item options section.
[Click Options]

Select the option groups you want to apply to this item.
[Select Size group]

Save the menu item.
[Click Save]

Now customers will see these options when ordering this item.

You can also manage options without opening menu items.

Open the option groups list to manage group availability and visibility in one place.
[Open Menu → Options]

Open the options list to manage individual options.
[Open Options list]

Use the Visible and Available toggles to quickly hide or disable a group or a single option. These changes apply instantly to all menu items using them.
[Toggle Visible / Available]

That’s it. You now know how to create option groups and options, configure selection types including price override groups, assign groups to menu items, and manage option availability and visibility centrally.
