Creating Menu Items in Garson.Pro
Welcome to Garson.Pro. In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to create menu items, control how customers see and order them, and preview the result in the mobile menu.
Before we start, make sure you have at least one menu section created. If you don’t have any sections yet, check out our tutorial on Creating Menu Sections. Now open the customer-facing menu and the portal at the same time so you can see changes immediately.
[Open location menu – mobile page, open portal Sample Menu section]
[The location image is already set, so the mobile menu header is displayed with a nice image]
Let’s say you want to add a new dish.
We’ll start by selecting the Desserts category.
[Open Desserts]
To add a new dish, click Create in the top-left corner.
[Click Create — top left]
Now give the dish a name. For example, let’s add a Cheese Cake.
[Write Cheese Cake as title]
Next, add a description. You can type it yourself, or generate one in just a few seconds using AI.
[Click Generate]
IF you don't like the result, you can regenerate it until you find one you like.
[Click Generate again if needed]
If you have international guests, you can translate the content easily.
Switch the language selector to ALL to edit multiple languages at once, or use AI-powered translation.
[Click Language selector – ALL → Click Translate]
Now let’s look at the item code.
A code is required and is generated automatically, but you can change it if needed.
Item codes are useful for paper-based ordering and for registering sold items for tax reporting using barcodes.
[Change Code to 1234]
Set how long the dish takes to prepare using Duration.
If the duration is set to 0, then duration will not be shown to customers. If you use durations, then set them for all items consistently, otherwise customers may get confused with order wait times.
[Set Duration]
Set the Price of the dish.
If the price is 0, the item will be shown as Ask.
Optionally, add a Discount to attract attention.
If the discount is 0, it won’t be shown.
[Fill in Price and Discount]
Finally, control how the item behaves in the menu:
- Visible decides whether the item appears in the menu at all.
- Available keeps the item visible but prevents ordering, which is perfect for temporarily out-of-stock dishes.
[Toggle Visible and Available]
Save the item.
[Click Create]
Now refresh the mobile menu to see the result from the customer’s perspective.
[Refresh / Reload mobile menu page]
As you can see, the new dish is now visible in the menu.
You can improve the presentation by adding images.
Menu items support multiple images, so you can show different angles or variations. Images are rotated automatically in the mobile menu. [Click Add Image → upload or select from photo stock]
Refresh the mobile menu once more to see the final result.
[Refresh / Reload mobile menu page]
Later on, you can quickly manage items without opening the editor.
From the item list, simply toggle Visible or Available to show, hide, or pause ordering instantly.
And that’s it — your menu item is live and ready for customers to order.
