Creating a Menu Structure in Garson.Pro

Welcome to Garson.Pro. In this video, you’ll learn how to work with menu sections in the self-service portal and how menu structure, visibility, and availability affect what customers see.

Garson.Pro supports both simple and complex menu hierarchies.

You can use a flat structure, where all menu sections are on the top level and menu items are placed directly inside them. This works well for cafés, bars, or small restaurants.

You can also use a hierarchical structure with multiple levels. For example, in a hotel, top-level sections can represent service providers such as Restaurant, Room Service, Pool Bar, Spa Center, or City Services. Inside each of these, you create sub-sections that represent the actual product catalog, such as Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, or Treatments.

No matter how simple or complex your menu is, menu items can only be created at the lowest level of the hierarchy, and only top-level menu sections can be assigned to locations.

After signing up, Garson.Pro automatically creates a sample menu structure for you: Starters, Main Dishes, Sides, Desserts, Drinks, Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Each section also contains a sample menu item, so you can immediately preview how the menu looks on mobile.

Visibility and availability

Before creating new sections, let’s look at how visibility and availability work directly from the list view.

First, hide one menu section so it disappears completely from the customer menu.
[Click Visible toggle — turn off]

Next, disable another menu section. Disabled sections remain visible but cannot be ordered. This is useful when a category is temporarily unavailable.
[Click Available toggle — turn off]

Now open the menu page using the location QR code.
[Click Location QR code]

Refresh the mobile menu page to load the latest changes.
[Refresh / Reload mobile menu page]

Notice that the hidden section is no longer shown at all, while the disabled section is still visible but cannot be ordered.

You can also change the order of menu sections using drag and drop.

Simply drag a section up or down in the list to control how it appears for customers in the mobile menu.
[Drag & drop menu section in list]

Now open the menu page again using the location QR code.
[Click Location QR code]

Refresh the mobile menu page to load the latest changes.
[Refresh / Reload mobile menu page]

Notice how the menu sections now appear in the same order as in the portal list.

Now let’s create a new menu section.

Click the Create button in the top-left corner of the menu sections page.
[Click Create — top left]

Enter a title for the current language, for example, Business Lunch Offer. If your business profile supports multiple languages, you can generate translations using AI.
[Type Business Lunch Offer]

Select all languages to review and edit translations at once.
[Click Language selector – ALL]

The default currency is taken from your business profile.
Visible controls whether the section is shown to customers.
Available keeps the section visible but disables ordering.

Save the menu section to apply the changes.
[Click Save]

Now you can see the newly created menu section appear in the menu sections list.

You can always customize it further by adding a picture.

[Click Add Image]

Images can be uploaded from your device or selected from the built-in photo stock. For now, we’ll choose a picture from the photo stock.
[Select image from photo stock and upload]

Let’s refresh the mobile menu once more to see the final result.
[Refresh / Reload mobile menu page]

You may also notice the List – Tags button on menu sections.

Tags are designed for bulk operations on menu sections and menu items.

Tags allow you to control visibility and availability for multiple sections and items at once.

Let’s assign a tag to the new menu section.

Open the Tags list for the menu section.
[Click List – Tags]

Switch to the Offers tab.
[Click Offers tab]

Select the Lunch tag.
[Select Lunch tag]

Apply the selected tag.
[Click Apply]

Now you can see the tag assigned to the menu section in the list.

From this point on, changing the visibility or availability of the Lunch tag will affect all menu sections and menu items assigned to it at the same time.

After creating a menu section, it must be assigned to a location.

Open the Locations section.
[Open Locations]

Select the location where the menu should be available.
[Select location]

Open the menu assignment list.
[Click List – Menus]

Select the menu section and apply it to the location.
[Select menu section → Click Apply]

Open the location QR code to preview the menu as customers will see it.
[Click Location QR code]

Now let’s recap what customers see on the mobile menu page.

The hidden section is not displayed at all. This is what Visible off means — the section is completely removed from the menu.

The disabled section is still shown, but it appears inactive and cannot be ordered. This is what Available off means — the section is visible, but ordering is blocked.

The newly created section appears normally and is available for customers, depending on its Visible and Available settings.

That’s it. You now know how menu section hierarchy works in Garson.Pro, how to create menu sections, and how visibility and availability affect the customer experience.
